In most European city's there exists a sub culture of squatting. Squatters are sometimes known as okupas . For the last twenty to thirty years the okupa movement have gained momentum . Their exists a positive and a negative side to this radical movement . The positive being that they might well be
showing an attractive but different form of living . There are
some who do believe in an alternative way of life and these people run events accordingly . Classes in percussion , fire eating , juggling and even exotic dancing are given . Library’s are run , theirs harmless political dialogue happening . In house lawyers , school teachers . A lot of good things get done . There does indeed exist a positive element here .
Then there’s the negative side . The okupa movement provides the perfect platform and title for those in-experienced
hanger on types and thug lefties who only wish to portray
their own form of anarchy . Ones that like to wear that
anarchy ¨¨A¨¨ symbol on the back of their sleeve less donkey
jackets . They don’t know the real significance of it , it’s just
an appropriate badge really . What they know is that they have been given a free rein to do what they want . Very
appropriate .. They can go to rallies or protests and get
drunk on local home brew or cardboard wine and then toke it all down with good skunk or in house grown weed . For organized violence one has to stimulate himself ,they say.
They usually don’t give a crap what the protest is about . It’s just a
good excuse for crowd culture and organized violence really .
.. Then you get them busking and very few are good at it .
You’ll be solicited by them anyway , asked aggressively even .
You’ll find them in the larger towns or city's . Sometimes
with dogs .
I have nothing against the okupa movement at all , It’s none
of my business really . I don’t like it when they disrupt
busking though and give it a bad name . Street entertainment should be left to those who know how to do It .
Busking is an artistic expression not a radical movement.
